Improper disposal of household hazardous materials carries potential risks to individuals, the community and the environment. Pouring them down the drain, into storm drains, on the ground or in the trash can lead to contamination of drinking water, wastewater, rivers, streams and lakes. Here are a few quick tips to practice for safe handling of hazardous wastes:

Properly dispose of any unwanted, outdated or unused chemicals or hazardous products stored in the basement, utility shed, garage or barn.
