The HomeGuard Surge Protection plan is the insurance you need to protect your household appliances and sensitive electronic equipment from power surges. Most surges are caused by lightning entering your home through power, telephone and cable TV lines. Occasionally, surges are caused by other factors, including animals on power lines, falling tree limbs, and even appliances inside your home as they turn on and off.

We offer two levels of protection:

1. A meter-based unit shields most electromechanical equipment (i.e. washers, dryers, refrigerators and other appliances motor driven or mechanical in nature) and electronic equipment (i.e. computers, televisions, stereos, microwaves and heat pumps). Jackson Energy Authority installs the unit for free and leases it to the customer for $4.95 a month, plus tax.

2. A companion kit of surge protection devices will give added protection to your most sensitive electronic equipment, such as your TV and computer. The cost is $99.95, plus tax.

Each package offers insurance from the manufacturer to cover damages from surges to protected devices.
