Outdoor Night Lights

Whether it be for your yard, church grounds, or business parking lot, the Jackson Energy Authority offers a lighting program that adds safety and security to your outdoor area. Our variety of security and floodlights will meet any need.

The photocells in our lights are sensitive to darkness; the lights come on at dusk and turn off at dawn.

We will install the lights and utility poles (if necessary) and maintain the lights for a monthly leasing fee. We also will help you design the best lighting for your needs.

Leasing costs vary with the number of lights, wattage, and type of installation and pole. A homeowner, for example, will pay about $6.25 a month for a backyard security light. This includes the light, an extra pole, if needed, and the electricity.

Security lights are available in high pressure sodium lights that give off a golden glow. They are mounted on 30- or 40-foot wooden poles, have overhead installation, and require a year's lease.

Floodlights, requiring a 40-month lease, can be the high pressure sodium lights or metal halide lights. Floodlights are ideal for businesses. They are mounted on standard wooden or concrete poles, ranging from 30- to 40-feet high. Most installations can be overhead or underground.
