What is budget billing?
If you are on a fixed income or like to budget your bills ahead of time, budget billing may be for you! Budget billing is a payment option that allows you to pay the same amount each month, making your utility costs easier to budget throughout the year. We estimate your monthly utility bill based on the average amount you used in the previous year and any projected rate changes. You can sign up for budget billing anytime in March thru August.
Who can sign up for budget billing?
Any residential customer with a current account, who has lived at their same address for at least one year may sign up. If you have a balance on your account, you will need to pay this amount before beginning the budget plan.
What charges are calculated in the budget plan?
Any utility services (electricity, gas, water, wastewater, cable, internet, and telephone) that you use are calculated in the monthly total. Also, any other charges such as garbage pick-up, security lights & poles, and loan payments are included.
Using the budget plan, will I be paying more or less each month than my actual bill?
If you purchase Pay-Per-View events, order any package priced events, or pay for long distance by the minute these charges will cause your bill to fluctuate each month. However, you will continue to be billed the same amount each month based on the previous year’s average.
Seasonal differences will also affect this as we base the budget on past history. For example, a colder winter than usual may cause your actual usage to be higher.
If your actual bill is higher due to such charges, it will have a bearing on your settle-up balance. Your account will settle up each year in March.
How will I know if my actual usage and balance is higher than my budget plan?
It is helpful if you monitor your usage and charges throughout the year. Your monthly bill will show actual usage and the accumulated balance. If you see that your accumulated balance much more that your budget plan, call us at 731-422-7500.
I am moving, will my budget plan transfer to my new home?
No, budget terms do not transfer to another address. The account balance will be due in full at the closing of the account.
