JEA EPlus Broadband Ahead of Schedule
Press Release: April 4th, 2004
Jackson Energy Authority's, EPlus Broadband, the nation's largest
Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network, is in full swing and ahead of their projected schedule.
Officials say JEA plans to complete the building process in the fall
of 2005, "but we are way ahead of where we thought we would be at this time," says Darrell Pope,
JEA's Telecom Project Manager.
Some neighborhoods will be connected next year, however customers
will be able to sign up for services as their areas are completed. Prior to installation,
customers will be mailed information and JEA employees will be in the areas to explain the
service and options.
In order to test the system, JEA signed test customers in the East
Chester and Channing Way areas. "They've been up and running since March 2004 and we've had
very positive feedback," says Luanne Holt, JEA's Telecom Sales Manager.
Jackson Energy Authority is available for questions, all day every
day of the week at 731.422.7500.
