EPLUS BROADBAND RELEASES CABLE RATES AND PACKAGES
Press Release: March 4th, 2004
With the start of Jackson Energy Authority’s
telecommunications business – EPlus
Broadband, JEA is providing its customers what they have been asking
for - a choice of cable providers.
EPlus won’t market by using gimmicks
or special promotions like ‘get the first 3
months for $29.99’, stated Kim Kersey, Senior Vice President
of Telecommunications at Jackson Energy Authority. Our prices are
straight forward and we will give our customers the most competitive
prices from the beginning so they’ll know exactly what they’ll
pay each month, he added.
EPlus customers will also enjoy the extra
number of channels provided on each
package at lower costs. HBO (14 channels), Cinemax (12 channels),
Showtime
Unlimited (24 channels), and Starz Super Pack (24 channels) will
each cost only $10 a month.
Analog Service
Two types of analog services are available: Basic and Expanded.
The Basic
charge is $15.00 a month and has 18 channels. Along with having
more channels
available, there are other bonus features attached with the Basic
Package.
For $10 a month, HBO can be viewed on any television in your home
on
Channels 14, 15, and 16 without a digital converter box. EPlus also
offers two full time weather channels with weather radar and local
forecast and conditions.
“We are providing special features
to our customers who may prefer not to get a
converter,” Kersey stated.
Under the Expanded Service, 80 channels
are available for $38.95. These also
include some channels that normally require a digital box to view
like the Catholic
Network, the Do It Yourself Channel, and another channel solely
devoted to gospel
music.
Digital Services
Several options are available thru EPlus Digital Services: Digital
Basic, Hispanic
Package, High Definition Channels, Digital Premium, and Digital
Pay-Per-View.
EPlus’ goal is to get customers what they want to see. One
such option is the
Hispanic Digital Package. For $10 a month, there are 15 channels
of news, sports,
music, and children’s programming.
Another unique EPlus option is the package
of High Definition (HD) Channels.
These 11 channels provide a “theater-like, almost 3-D picture
sound and quality”
explain company officials. This extreme quality, and clarity is
$3.00 a month.
Customers will be able to purchase Digital INDemand Pay-Per-View
movies,
events, and sports as well as Digital Premium Channels.
With “Your Choice” Monthly
Package Rates, customers choose exactly which
digital or premium channels they would like to have.
“Your Choice” provides five
options – Choose ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, or ALL.
Each one includes the Standard Service with your choice of any ONE
digital or premium service ($49.95), TWO digital or premium services
($59.95), THREE ($69.95), FOUR ($79,95), or ALL digital and premium
services ($89.95).
Digital Converter Boxes
Also available will be more choices with EPlus’ two different
digital converters.
Both will include an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) where viewing
channels and
movies days in advance is possible.
The EPG also has a special feature where
current shows can still be seen while
scrolling thru the guide. “This is a feature our customers
will find beneficial,” Kersey stated.
The Standard Digital Converter Box will
cost $1.00 a month and $5.00 for each
additional converter. The “Smart Box” Digital Converter
includes the EPG as well as High Definition (HD) and Digital Video
Recording (DVR) capabilities.
The DVR option has a built-in recorder
which allows viewers to record and save
up to 60 hours of programming. With the touch of a button, you can
record without a VCR, rewind & fast forward LIVE shows, and
record your favorite television shows while watching others. This
“Smart Box” will be $7 a month and $10 for each additional
box in the home.
One of JEA’s focuses with EPlus is
to offer options new to this market and back up
the programming with the best customer service in the industry.
JEA officials stated that when customers
call JEA, they will get a LIVE
representative to handle ALL their needs from wastewater, water,
gas, and electricity and now to the group of Broadband services
- cable, Internet, and telephone. “Our customer service employees’
main focus is to take care of you – the customer,” Kersey
added.
EPlus’ first customers are set to
be connected April 2nd. Overall completion of the
project is set for Fall 2005, customers will be connected as construction
progresses, allowing many homes and businesses access within the
next few months.
Telephone and Internet packages will be
released soon as well as rates for those
customers who choose all three EPlus Services of cable, Internet,
and telephone. “It will definitely be worth the wait,”
Kersey added.
