EPlus Broadband Signs Their Newest Internet and
Telephone Provider - Cinergy Communications Company
Press Release: April 21st, 2005
EPlus Broadband, the fiber broadband network
operation of Jackson Energy Authority, has recently entered into
an agreement with Cinergy Communications Company to provide high-speed
Internet access, local telephone service, and long distance calling
service over the EPlus Broadband network.
“We are very pleased to bring our
residential and commercial broadband customers high quality options
when selecting Internet and telephone services,” said Kim
Kersey, Senior Vice President of Telecommunications for Jackson
Energy Authority.
“Cinergy Communications has an excellent
reputation as a customer service provider, and matches JEA’s
philosophy for always putting the customer first,” Kersey
added. “Cinergy Communications is also a technology leader
and we anticipate innovative data and telephone services from them.”
Cinergy Communications’ Internet and
telephone services will be included on Jackson Energy Authority’s
monthly utility statements, along with EPlus Broadband cable service.
Many of JEA’s EPlus Broadband customers have requested consolidated
billing for their convenience, allowing them to make one monthly
payment for all of their utility and telecommunications services.
As an option, customers may also request that their telecommunications
service billing be consolidated; yet billed separately from their
utility services.
“We think our partnership with JEA
is a great match,” says Mike Farmer of Cinergy Communications.
“Both companies are large enough to be able to do things well
and small enough to remember that every customer matters.”
Cinergy Communications offers advanced local
and long distance telephone services, high-speed Internet access,
and web hosting to meet the needs of business and residential customers
in Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Cinergy Communications has
a 30-year history of innovation as the first to offer an alternative
to AT&T long distance service in Western Kentucky, as the first
ISP in Southern Indiana, and as one of the first in its region to
market an alternative to SBC and BellSouth. Cinergy Communications
is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Q-Comm Corporation. Although Cinergy
Corp. has licensed the use of its name to Q-Comm, it has no management
oversight, control, or responsibility for Cinergy Communications.
“The city of Jackson has one of the
most advanced and reliable communications networks in the country
and we are excited to have this opportunity to serve the community,”
Farmer added.
EPlus Broadband, a division of Jackson Energy
Authority, is the nation’s largest fiber to the premises deployment,
offering advanced telecommunications technology to residential and
business customers. EPlus Broadband currently serves over 7,000
homes and businesses since its launch in May 2004.
