JEA's Chief Executive Officer Appointed. Press Release: Monday, November 13, 2006 The Board of Directors of Jackson Energy Authority has announced that Danny Wheeler will assume the office of President and Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2007. Danny is currently serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He began his career with JEA in 1966 as a co-op engineering student in the Electric System. He later served as the Electric System’s project engineer. Following several years of work in the private sector in utility-related businesses and as a small business owner, he returned to JEA in 1996. He has held several management positions including Senior Vice President of the Electric System. Danny has been active in numerous utility trade associations and civic organizations, including the American Public Power Association and the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce. Danny earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He and his wife, Beverly, have one daughter, Anna, who resides in Nashville and a son, Kerby, who resides in Atlanta. In announcing Danny’s appointment, Harbert Alexander, Chair of JEA’s Board of Directors, stated, “Danny brings proven leadership skills to the position. We are confident that under his direction, JEA will continue to be a strong, customer-oriented organization in our community.” |
