Student Awarded TVA Power Distributors Scholarship

Press Release: May 28th, 2004

Ms. Mallory Faulkner of Jackson Central Merry High School has been awarded a $4,000 college scholarship from TVA and Jackson Energy Authority through the TVA Power Distributors Scholarship Program.

One of 25 scholarship winners chosen from 128 applicants, Mallory has a 4.0 grade point average and plans to attend Middle Tennessee State University. Mallory is the daughter of Tim and Libby Faulkner. Tim is an electric foreman with Jackson Energy Authority.

TVA and distributors of TVA power created the scholarship program in 1995 for the children of distributors’ employees to encourage students to excel and to recognize the strength of the partnerships between TVA and distributors of TVA power.

The program has provided $532,000 in scholarships to 150 graduating high school seniors over the past nine years. Scholarship recipients are selected by a panel of college professors from across the Tennessee Valley.

TVA is the nation’s largest public power provider and is completely self-financed. TVA provides power to large industries and 158 power distributors that serve 8.5 million consumers in seven southeastern states.
